A palette of colors for breathtaking landscapes

As a master of watercolors, Fabrice Moireau takes us on an expedition through the enchanting landscapes of Brittany. With precision, he breathes life into his favorite sources of inspiration by painting old stones and coastal waters. As you turn the pages, you’ll delight in manors and intricately carved calvaries, granites, and churches.

A story accompanying each watercolor

Yann Queffélec needs no introduction, and the quality of his prose is well-known. His words beautifully complement the watercolorist’s sketches, transporting us into the history and culture of Brittany. The talented writer makes us feel the depth of this region, from its Welsh origins to its wild coast and prehistoric menhirs.

A watercolor album that inspires wanderlust

More than just a sketchbook, this work is an invitation to travel and discovery. From the Pointe du Raz to the Landes de Lanvaux, from the shores of the Gulf of Morbihan to the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay, his paintings will captivate you. Let yourself be carried away by the beauty of Brittany, its moving landscapes, and its fascinating history.

Fabrice Moireau.

Fabrice Moireau, born in 1962, is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts appliqués et des métiers d’Art (National School of Applied Arts and Crafts). Inspired by his many travels, he creates sketchbooks that are both cultural and ethnographic testimonials. Passionate about architecture, gardens, and nature, he uses watercolors to capture the subtlety of light and the atmosphere of streets and landscapes.

His career took shape during his studies, where he excelled in observational drawing and trained as a stand designer/set designer, before creating his first travel journals for the Chaumont-sur-Loire Garden Festival. His approach quickly attracted attention, and his sketchbooks led to commissions for Vuitton and then Éditions du Pacifique, with whom he produced more than 35 art books devoted to cities and regions around the world, from Paris to New York, Lisbon to Provence.

Contemplative, Fabrice Moireau paints in situ, sometimes sitting for hours on a simple fishing stool, capturing the light, framing and details with precision. His works have been the subject of numerous exhibitions, about one per year, and reflect a sensitive and poetic view of the world.

Fabrice Moireau is the author of the following books published by Éditions du Pacifique: Berlin Sketchbook, Bretagne Sketchbook, Paris Sketchbook, Corse Sketchbook, Florence Sketchbook, Gardens de Paris Aquarelles, Lisbonne Sketchbook, and Normandie Sketchbook.

Yann Queffélec.

Yann Queffélec, born on September 4, 1949, in Paris, is a French writer, son of Brest writer Henri Queffélec and brother of pianist Anne Queffélec. Passionate about the sea and Brittany, he began sailing at a young age at the Jeunesse et Marine sailing school and accompanied Éric Tabarly during his first nautical experiences.

He published his first book in 1981, a biography of composer Béla Bartók, followed by a notable novel about the Algerian War, Le Charme noir, in 1983. He received the Prix Goncourt in 1985 for Les Noces barbares, a novel that has been translated worldwide. Since then, he has published more than forty works, including a biography of Éric Tabarly, twenty-five novels, and essays such as Dictionnaire amoureux de la Bretagne (2013) and L’Homme de ma vie (2015, Prix des Hussards).

A literary columnist for Le Nouvel Observateur and a member of the Écrivains de marine (Marine Writers), Yann Queffélec explores the grandeur and misery of human comedy through his novels, combining passion, the sea, and ties to Brittany.
