Normandy ranks as the world’s second most famous region, and for good reason. Throughout the ages, this land has been coveted by numerous invaders. From the Romans to the Vikings, and later from the English to the Germans, the region has witnessed numerous conflicts. Nevertheless, it has managed to preserve a natural and architectural heritage of immense richness.
Whether it’s lush forests, the white chalk cliffs of the Alabaster Coast, or the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay, Normandy continues to fascinate people from all walks of life. Enchanted by its unique characteristics, Fabrice Moireau has skillfully captured the essence of its natural landscapes in breathtaking watercolor paintings. This work brings together 150 original drawings and watercolors representing the five departments that make up Normandy. Elevated by the accompanying texts, the paintings convey the richness of the eras and influences that have shaped this region.

Fabrice Moireau, born in 1962, is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts appliqués et des métiers d’Art (National School of Applied Arts and Crafts). Inspired by his many travels, he creates sketchbooks that are both cultural and ethnographic testimonials. Passionate about architecture, gardens, and nature, he uses watercolors to capture the subtlety of light and the atmosphere of streets and landscapes.
His career took shape during his studies, where he excelled in observational drawing and trained as a stand designer/set designer, before creating his first travel journals for the Chaumont-sur-Loire Garden Festival. His approach quickly attracted attention, and his sketchbooks led to commissions for Vuitton and then Éditions du Pacifique, with whom he produced more than 35 art books devoted to cities and regions around the world, from Paris to New York, Lisbon to Provence.
Contemplative, Fabrice Moireau paints in situ, sometimes sitting for hours on a simple fishing stool, capturing the light, framing and details with precision. His works have been the subject of numerous exhibitions, about one per year, and reflect a sensitive and poetic view of the world.

Olivier Frébourg, born in Dieppe in 1965, is a journalist, writer, foreign correspondent, and publisher. The son of a sea captain and grandson of a fishing boat owner from Douarnenez, he grew up in a maritime environment that would have a profound influence on his work. After starting out in the press, he wrote for Libération, Le Figaro Littéraire, Géo, Le Figaro Magazine, Grands Reportages, Air France Magazine, and several foreign newspapers.
Literary advisor at Éditions du Rocher (1988-1990), then literary director at La Table Ronde (1992-2003), he founded Éditions des Équateurs in 2003. A prolific writer, he has published some fifteen novels and essays, often imbued with nostalgia and marked by the sea and his native Normandy. He received the Prix des Deux Magots in 1989, the Prix François-Victor-Noury from the Institut de France in 2002 for his entire body of work, and the Prix Décembre in 2011 for Gaston et Gustave. A passionate sailor, he was admitted to the Écrivains de marine in 2004.
He is the author of Normandie Sketchbook, published by Éditions du Pacifique.
