Discover Paris from a unique perspective with Fabrice Moireau

In this stunning watercolor book, Fabrice Moireau invites us to explore Paris like never before. His aerial views and original perspectives offer a fresh vision of the French capital, complemented by the poetic words of Carl Norac.

The rooftops of Paris captured on paper

Fabrice Moireau embarked on an extraordinary artistic journey to capture the city from surprising angles. By climbing rooftops, sneaking through secret passages, and exploring hidden corners, he reveals a vibrant and ever-surprising metropolis. Iconic monuments, public squares, and little-known corners take on a new dimension under his brush.

A poetic dive into Parisian life

This book offers a unique, almost surreal view of Paris’s rooftops and the life that unfolds atop them. Through Fabrice Moireau’s watercolors and Carl Norac’s words, readers discover a suspended, poetic, and fascinating Paris. Rooftops of Paris is not just a watercolor journal—it’s an intimate and aerial journey through the heart of the capital.

Carl Norac.

Carl Norac, born in Mons in 1960, is a Belgian poet whose childhood was marked by an artistic environment: his father, Pierre Coran, was a writer, and his mother, Irène Coran, was an actress. After working as a French teacher, traveling librarian, journalist, and then professor of literary history at the Royal Conservatory of Mons, he chose to devote himself fully to writing, which he has been doing for over twenty years.

Carl Norac is the author of poetry, plays, and numerous books translated into eighteen languages, with more than forty titles published. His work has been recognized with several major awards, including the Grand Prix de la Société des gens de lettres in Paris (2009) and the Charles-Plisnier Prize in Belgium. In 2020–2021, he became Belgium’s National Poet (Dichter des Vaderlands).

Carl Norac is the author of The Coffret Paris Sketchbook and Rooftops of Paris Sketchbook, published by Éditions du Pacifique.

Fabrice Moireau.

Fabrice Moireau, born in 1962, is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts appliqués et des métiers d’Art (National School of Applied Arts and Crafts). Inspired by his many travels, he creates sketchbooks that are both cultural and ethnographic testimonials. Passionate about architecture, gardens, and nature, he uses watercolors to capture the subtlety of light and the atmosphere of streets and landscapes.

His career took shape during his studies, where he excelled in observational drawing and trained as a stand designer/set designer, before creating his first travel journals for the Chaumont-sur-Loire Garden Festival. His approach quickly attracted attention, and his sketchbooks led to commissions for Vuitton and then Éditions du Pacifique, with whom he produced more than 35 art books devoted to cities and regions around the world, from Paris to New York, Lisbon to Provence.

Contemplative, Fabrice Moireau paints in situ, sometimes sitting for hours on a simple fishing stool, capturing the light, framing and details with precision. His works have been the subject of numerous exhibitions, about one per year, and reflect a sensitive and poetic view of the world.

Fabrice Moireau is the author of the following books published by Éditions du Pacifique: Berlin Sketchbook, Bretagne Sketchbook, Paris Sketchbook, Corse Sketchbook, Florence Sketchbook, Gardens de Paris Aquarelles, Lisbonne Sketchbook, and Normandie Sketchbook.
