Let yourself be captivated by the fascinating history of Villaines Castle and the fabulous watercolors by the talented Fabrice Moireau. This 17th-century historical monument reveals all its secrets in this not-to-be-missed watercolor sketchbook.
Villaines Castle is an architectural treasure nestled in extensive agricultural land. Thanks to his watercolors, Fabrice Moireau immerses us completely in its smallest details. Facades, roofs, rooms, lounges, library, kitchen, cellars, moats, dovecote, or barn, nothing is left out. The goal? To allow you to travel through time and space, across a few pages.
Beyond the walls, Villaines Castle houses magnificent gardens and a one-hectare walled vegetable garden. These are portrayed through Fabrice Moireau’s sketches as he briefly becomes a gardener to capture the beauty of these places. Across the seasons, we are transported into a cultivated nature where every plant and flower becomes a living work of art.
A heritage and history enthusiast, Stanislas Dupleix accompanies each watercolor with a novelistic narrative. He unveils the secrets of the estate, punctuating its history with anecdotes and mysteries. Order this beautiful watercolor book and immerse yourself in the intimacy of a historic castle.
Fabrice Moireau, born in 1962, graduated from the National School of Applied Arts and Crafts. From his numerous travels, he brings back sketchbooks that serve as cultural and ethnographic testimonies. Passionate about architecture, gardens, and plants in general, his ambition is to convey, through watercolors, the subtlety of the play of light and the atmosphere of a street or landscape.
Stanislas Dupleix was born in 1976, married, and a father of three children. A graduate of ESSEC, driven by a passion for meeting people and the pleasure of words, he left Paris for Loir-et-Cher and founded Plume d’Eléphant in 2010, a publishing house specializing in biographies. Mastering the art of a chameleon, he collects, writes, and publishes the life stories of a wide variety of people, delving into, if not the human soul, at least the layers of our society. With a passion for heritage and history, continually questioning the concepts of time, destiny, and transmission, he is also a guitarist, singer, marathon runner, and a lover of travel, cinema, and poetry. Following “Impressions de Loir et Cher” in 2014, “Villaines” is his second collaboration with Fabrice Moireau.
