Villaines Castle is an architectural treasure nestled in extensive agricultural land. Thanks to his watercolors, Fabrice Moireau immerses us completely in its smallest details. Facades, roofs, rooms, lounges, library, kitchen, cellars, moats, dovecote, or barn, nothing is left out. The goal? To allow you to travel through time and space, across a few pages.

Exceptional gardens and vegetable garden captured in this book

Beyond the walls, Villaines Castle houses magnificent gardens and a one-hectare walled vegetable garden. These are portrayed through Fabrice Moireau’s sketches as he briefly becomes a gardener to capture the beauty of these places. Across the seasons, we are transported into a cultivated nature where every plant and flower becomes a living work of art.

A heritage and history enthusiast, Stanislas Dupleix accompanies each watercolor with a novelistic narrative. He unveils the secrets of the estate, punctuating its history with anecdotes and mysteries. Order this beautiful watercolor book and immerse yourself in the intimacy of a historic castle.

Fabrice Moireau.

Fabrice Moireau, born in 1962, is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts appliqués et des métiers d’Art (National School of Applied Arts and Crafts). Inspired by his many travels, he creates sketchbooks that are both cultural and ethnographic testimonials. Passionate about architecture, gardens, and nature, he uses watercolors to capture the subtlety of light and the atmosphere of streets and landscapes.

His career took shape during his studies, where he excelled in observational drawing and trained as a stand designer/set designer, before creating his first travel journals for the Chaumont-sur-Loire Garden Festival. His approach quickly attracted attention, and his sketchbooks led to commissions for Vuitton and then Éditions du Pacifique, with whom he produced more than 35 art books devoted to cities and regions around the world, from Paris to New York, Lisbon to Provence.

Contemplative, Fabrice Moireau paints in situ, sometimes sitting for hours on a simple fishing stool, capturing the light, framing and details with precision. His works have been the subject of numerous exhibitions, about one per year, and reflect a sensitive and poetic view of the world.

Fabrice Moireau is the author of the following books published by Éditions du Pacifique: Berlin Sketchbook, Bretagne Sketchbook, Paris Sketchbook, Corse Sketchbook, Florence Sketchbook, Gardens de Paris Aquarelles, Lisbonne Sketchbook, and Normandie Sketchbook.

Stanislas Dupleix.

Born in 1976 and a graduate of ESSEC Business School, Stanislas Dupleix is married with three children. After ten years working in marketing, he founded Plume d’Éléphant, a publishing house specializing in biographies, in 2010. This project was born out of a personal journey: after becoming a father, he realized the importance of passing on knowledge and regretted that the life stories of his elders had never been recorded. He then wrote his grandmother’s memoirs and imagined a modern service, based on a network of private biographers, to enable everyone to have their story written.

Driven by a love of words, meeting people, and storytelling, Stanislas Dupleix has been collecting and writing about the lives of men and women from very diverse backgrounds for over ten years, revealing the many layers of our society through their stories. Passionate about heritage, history, cinema, travel, and poetry, he cultivates the art of chameleonism in order to capture the essence of each life story as accurately as possible.

He is the author of Villaines Sketchbook, published by Éditions du Pacifique.
