Born in Paris in 1946, Édith de la Héronnière is an essayist, novelist, and biographer. After studying philosophy at the Sorbonne and completing a doctorate under Vladimir Jankélévitch, she worked in various jobs related to books and the press before becoming Maurice Clavel’s secretary.
Her work explores two main avenues: travel writing, with remarkable texts such as La Ballade des pèlerins (The Pilgrims’ Ballad) and Du volcan au chaos, journal sicilien (From Volcano to Chaos, Sicilian Diary), and essays, with works such as Vézelay, l’esprit du lieu (Vézelay, the Spirit of Place) and Teilhard de Chardin, une mystique de la traversée (Teilhard de Chardin, a Mysticism of Crossing). Her contributions to literary journals and exhibition catalogs fuel a reflection at the crossroads of “the austere and the dazzling.”
She combines her passion for travel and literature in her work, bringing to life stories imbued with sensitivity and discovery.
Édith de la Héronnière is the author of Sicile Sketchbook, published by Éditions du Pacifique.
