Born in 1952 in Russia, he began his photographic journey as a set photographer. After joining the Moscow Union of Graphic Arts and being awarded independent artist status, his work started to gain international attention.
He moved permanently to Paris in 1985, where he worked for the international press. His photography captures the beauty of people and explores individual details through reflections or particular kinds of light, often approaching abstraction.
He is the author of Bhutan: Portrait of a Kingdom, published by Éditions du Pacifique.
