Jaroslav Kalfar.

Of Czech origin, Jaroslav Kalfař immigrated to the United States at the age of 15 without knowing a single word of English. Unable to keep up in high school, he dropped out and taught himself English.

A few years later, he was admitted to the prestigious New York University, where his professor, author Jonathan Safran Foer, encouraged him to write.

Holding an MFA (Master of Fine Arts), he writes in English and lives in Brooklyn.

Spaceman of Bohemia (2017) is his debut novel.
