Raghu Rai.

Photographer

Born in 1942 in Pakistan, he began his career in photography in 1965 and joined The Statesman newspaper as its chief photographer.

He later became Picture Editor, Visualizer, and Photographer for India Today, where he worked on special issues and layouts, contributing groundbreaking photo essays on social, political, and cultural themes, many of which became defining features of the magazine.

For the past 18 years, Raghu Rai has specialized in an extensive and in-depth coverage of India. He is since 1977 a member of Magnum.

 

He is the author of Bhutan: Portrait of a Kingdom, published by Éditions du Pacifique.
