Born in Paris in 1972, Sylvain Tesson is a French writer, adventurer, and traveler. With a degree in geography and a master’s degree in geopolitics, he travels the world on foot, by bike, or on horseback, exploring extreme territories from Siberia to Central Asia. His stories, often autobiographical, combine adventure, philosophy, and poetry, such as Dans les forêts de Sibérie (In the Forests of Siberia, winner of the Prix Médicis essay prize) and Berezina (winner of the Prix des Hussards and Prix de la page 112). Winner of the Prix Goncourt for short stories for Une vie à coucher dehors (A Life Spent Outdoors), Tesson is also renowned for his writing on nature, solitude, and life in tree houses. He contributes to numerous magazines, writes prefaces and essays, and in 2019 received the Prix Renaudot for La Panthère des neiges (The Snow Leopard).

 

He is the author of Tree Houses and The Trees of Paris, published by Éditions du Pacifique.
