Tom Mairs is an artist specializing in watercolor painting, whose work combines architecture, travel, and history. His art captures the interactions between people, structures, and urban or rural landscapes.
He began his training in visual arts at the University of Victoria in Canada before working in theater. In 2011, he moved to Germany to study costume design at the UDK in Berlin, then obtained a master’s degree in scenography at the Kunsthochschule Weißensee. He has collaborated with numerous German theaters, including the München Volkstheater and the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. At the same time, he has developed a freelance career in illustration, specializing in architecture and topography.
Through his watercolors, Tom Mairs brings the landscapes and buildings he observes to life, offering an artistic and documentary view of the world around him.
He is the author of Prague Sketchbook, published by Éditions du Pacifique.
